"Week 2 - Organize Your Schedule ~ by Jennifer Ford Berry

Each day we are given the gift of time. By choosing to spend it wisely and efficiently, you will reduce stress, spend more time on the things you want to do, feel more fulfilled at the end of the day and enjoy a more balanced life. Take charge of your life by taking charge of your schedule. Only you can choose how you spend your time....

This week's goals:

1. Buy one daily planner to use for both work and your personal life. Using more than one leaves room for confusion and overlapped appointments." Remember...all phones now come with a calendar so if you want to save the environment, use this!!

"2. Sit down with your family and plan your week/month ahead of time so you can:

  • Schedule babysitter
  • Divide errands
  • Plan meals
  • Divide chores
  • Plan driving arrangements for activities

3. Gather all your To Do items....and create a To Do list that you can keep in your planner...

4. Sort your To Do list...(a) ...done today...(b)...done next week...(c)...done in future...

5. Once you have your tasks sorted into categories, number the tasks in each category, number the tasks in each category, in the order in which they must be accomplished....

6. Schedule your dentist and doctor appointments for the next year and veterinarian appointments if you have pets. Schedule kids' pediatric appointments and family members' dental checkups back-to-back so you can make fewer trips.

7. Place a small notebook by your bed for those nights you lie awake thinking of things you need to do. Write them down and get some sleep knowing you'll put them on your To Do list in the morning.

8. Use a page in your planner for long-term To Do list..."

Keep in mind that there are many options for planners and To Do's (electronic and paper). It doesn't matter what kind you use but that you use it!!

September is National Preparedness Month, this is a nationwide campaign aimed at helping households and communities evaluate how equipped you are to handle a potential disaster.
